Two Important Events In Computing


1995 - Netscape goes public

This event allowed a free browser to be transmitted on a large scale. This allowed common computer users to browse the internet with a gui interface, which was difficult to do before. With more people browsing the internet, more people created sites. With more sites, more people browsed, spurring the developement of the web.

1998 - Open source software comes of age

Expensive hardware was finally being complimented with free software. This free software was known as open source; anyone was free to use, distribute, and modify the code, enabling every member of the human race the ability to benifit from any contribution made by any other human. Also it enabled free trade and encouraged groups of humans to work toghether for their own good.
