The Rockhopper Penguin

These little guys are feisty!  They have a very bad temper, especially with humans.  They are the smallest of the crested penguins.  Crested refers to the yellow spike that are on the head of a couple different species.  They can grow up to 21 inches.  They get their name because they hop over large rocks and what ever may be in their way.  They live mainly in the Sub-Antarctic region, islands like the Falklands.  They make their nest by digging a hold in the ground and lining it with gathered grass.  The male and female take turns guarding the eggs.
