What once was a problem, is now an opportunity.
Important points of the day:

• Every opportunity creates at least 2 more opportunities.
• Constantly look for new problems - they will open your way to new opportunities.
• Risk taking should be valued.
• Errors will create new ideas.

Fishing, football, and shopping. You never would think that such simple things could relate to such a new idea that many do not know about. I never thought about problems and the opportunities that they all hold. If anything, I found this discussion more valuable then many things I have learned this quarter. Why are organizations such scared of problems? Is it the negative context or the uneasy feelings people get when they hear there is a problem? When is it going to be okay for employees to point out problems and be rewarded for it? Seldom companies do and maybe that’s why they are on the top of the lists.

In the many places I have worked, employees have been penalized or reprimanded for problems that occur within the company. Could it be the wrong reinforcement that managers and companies are aiming towards? Maybe the message that we are sending to our employees and managers are wrong. So when will it all change? When will problems be embraced and when will there be true change?

My ideas have seemed random and misplaced possibly throughout the journal. However, I feel that this is what a journal shall be. It has been a place for me to respond to what I have learned and what I have thought about. This is what I am thankful for. So how would I sum it all up? This quarter has opened a new way to learn. A new way to think. Sometimes it’s the new things that might change your life.
