Assistive Technology for Word Processing

The goal of this website is to teach parents and teachers about existing technologies appropriate to individual children's needs.  Word Processing can be a useful tool for children with learning disabilities (ie. Dyslexia), developmental disabilities, English as a second language, and hearing, speech, and language disabilities.  These technologies aid children in successful expression of their ideas into written language and improve some children's abilities to engage in conversations.

Word processing technology can be beneficial in the classroom - not only for students, but for teachers also.  This form of technology should be incorporated as part of an integrated approach to writing.  It should not be the only tool used in a writing curriculum.
